Chestnut Hill Garden Club
Learn. Grow. Connect.

The Chestnut Hill Garden Club is a dedicated group committed to the study of horticulture, conservation, floral design, and community engagement.
Founded in 1952 by a small group of women in the Philadelphia area who shared an interest in gardening, the Chestnut Hill Garden Club has developed a rich history of learning through lectures, workshops, and field trips.
Monthly meetings are held from September to June and feature speakers on topics ranging from flower arranging to garden planning, horticulture, and conservation. Our members support the community by beautifying public spaces and exhibiting at the PHS Flower Show.
Community Engagement

Keystone Hospice Holiday
Decorating
Our members enjoy decorating Keystone Hospice, in December to bring holiday cheer and joy to the residents. Located at 8765 Stenton Avenue in Wyndmoor, PA (19038), Keystone Hospice provides comprehensive end-of-life, palliative, and home health care services to patients in the Greater Philadelphia region.

PHS Flower Show
CHGC participates in the PHS Flower Show on alternating years. The CHGC flower show chairman chooses the entry category the March of the year prior to exhibiting. The committee begins work in the summer, writing the Intent, determining the theme and beginning to consider plant material. Construction begins in the fall and plants are chosen. The flower show committee needs the help of the entire membership to help maintain the flower show entry in March during the week of the show. The PHS Flower Show, an internationally renowned treasure, is America’s oldest and grandest indoor horticultural display.

Flowering the Avenue
CHGC joins Wissahickon Garden Club and many other garden clubs and gardeners to plant the barrels in Chestnut Hill, PA, famously known as Philadelphia's "Garden District".
Gardeners are given a design, plants and an apron and sent off to create masterpieces of color profusion to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

Decorate Park Houses
In the past, our members have been able to decorate the Philadelphia Fairmont Park Houses. Using traditional decorations that would have been available in the 1700 and 1800s, we have decorated Strawberry Mansion, Lemon Hill, Cedar Grove, Mount Pleasant and Laurel Hill.

Decorate Ronald McDonald House
Our members spent many years making floral arrangements to welcome guests to the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia. Ronald McDonald House programs and services help alleviate some financial burdens for families along their child’s healthcare journey. Last year alone, we helped families save $783 million in lodging and meal expenses.

Holiday Gift Baskets
The Chestnut Hill Garden Club has responded to families in need by providing gifts requested by families in the area. Members purchased gifts from thei family's wish list, wrapped them and delivered them to their home while the children were away. We enjoyed bringing some joy to others!
